Foreign road administrations

GDDKiA

The cooperation between Swedish Road Administration (Vägverket) and National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is realized on the basis of the Agreement on Cooperation concluded on 5 September 2003, applicable for 6 years.

The initiative covered the employees of regional offices from both road administrations  – Skane (Scania) in Sweden and Branch in Gdańsk in Poland as well as the employees of central offices – respectively in Borlange and in Warsaw. However, the access to the effects of the cooperation is granted to all the employees, both in Vägverket and GDDKiA.

The priority topics of the cooperation include:

• Maintenance of roads;

• Environment protection;

• Safety in road traffic;

• Bridge technologies;

• Inteligent Transport Systems.

The goal of cooperation is the exchange of technical knowledge and experience in the area of preparation, construction and exploitation of the of the road network, administered by both institutions. Each topic is conducted by a separate technical group, consisting of the employees from the abovementioned regional and central offices of both road administrations. These employees have a possibility of mutual transferring the technical documentation, organizing common seminars or workshops, technical missions, participating in trainings or audits.

Cooperation between Vägverket and GDDKiA is coordinated by their organizational units dealing with international contacts. At least once a year the meeting of Steering Committee is organized, composed of the representatives of so called „high level” of both administrations. This Committee makes the assessment of the work of those technical groups and makes the decisions as to the scope and direction of further, mutual contacts.
