Within 7 days, the contractors on the Stryków - Konotopa section of the A2 expressway, shall submit to the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways the repair programme for cracks formed in the construction layers of the expressway. All repairs shall be performed at the own expense of the contractors.

The letter requesting the preparation of the report and removal of all detected defects was sent on 23 February to Budimex, Strabag, Eurovia, Mostostal Warszawa and DSS. The contractors are obliged to perform a full inventory of cracks including detailed documentation, execution of control drills, diagnosis of causes and the extent of damages. Regardless of the preparation of the report, the contractors shall secure cracks, implement the recovery programme, and after its approval, remove all detected damages. The implemented recovery programme shall be covered with the warranty.

If the contractors avoid executing the abovementioned actions, the General Directorate shall subcontract these works to other entities, and charge contractors with costs of the substitutive performance. According to the contract, all damages shall be removed at their own expense. 

Similar requests would be delivered to contractors at all other road sections, where cracks were observed.

At the same time, the GDDKiA reminds that the WMS technology (the higher rigidity modulus for bitumen - aggregate mixtures) used by contractors at the Stryków - Konotopa section of the A2 has been successfully used at other, already in use, road sections, including also the Konin - Dąbie section of the A2. This 50-km long section of the expressway has been constructed at the lower price than the section being implemented at the time. Mixtures with the higher rigidity modulus were also used, inter alia, at the national road no. 92, the Poznań - Iwno section, the national road no. 15 - the bypass road of Gniezno or the national road no. 5 the passage through Komorniki. Cracks at these indicated investments did not occurred.
